An Out of Control Child Exhibits Oppositional Defiance

0

The growing age of a child is a tender stage in his life during which whatever good or bad qualities he learns become a part of his attitudinal pattern. Therefore, he may prove to be an obedient child or may even turn out to be an out of control child. Children often behave rudely or impolitely when they are hungry, tired or stressed. They may sometimes even show disrespectfulness towards their parents or teachers. However, if their parents find that they often exhibit such bad qualities, which are found to be entirely different from behavior of the children of same age, it shows that they have acquired an oppositional defiant disorder. Hence, there is an urgent need to contact a psychological expert. Failing to do which, the parents of an out of control child may have to face severe consequences.

As an out of control child is the victim of oppositional defiance, he has a sick cognitive power and showcases a recurring pattern of negative qualities, which include stubbornness, argumentativeness, dominance, and vengefulness. Such defiant children easily lose temper, indulge in debates with adults or authority figures, show reluctance to adhere to the requests of adults or instructions given at home or school, deliberately irritate other people, and blame others even for their own mistake. Even if someone tries to console them, they reject such intimate gestures. Oppositional defiance becomes a matter of serious concern for parents when the hostile behavior of their out of control child persists for more than six months. So, he must be treated with an effective oppositional defiance disorder therapy otherwise the disorder can strongly influence his family, academic, and social life.

An oppositional defiant disorder is somewhere connected to a reactive attachment disorder and both are major child behavior problems. The out of control child might have not received that adequate attention from his parents or care giver during infancy due to which, he developed an attachment disorder. This behavior disorder mars the ability of a child to form intimate bonds with closed ones and therefore, he gets detached from everyone. Due to the lack of necessary parenting skills, his parents could not nurture him in required way and kept ignoring his major needs. The child might also have faced separation from his primary care giver that disabled him to make trustworthy relationships with his secondary care giver. Due to such causes of a reactive attachment disorder, the child is likely to acquire oppositional defiance when he grows up.

On the other hand, it is also found that sometimes, a child’s home structure also affects his behavioral pattern. If the structure at his home is loose, parents are lenient and do not interfere much in his activities. Taking undue advantage of the same, he may become defiant and exhibit an aggressive attitude. Besides, if the home structure is strict, parents are vigilant over his each activity and keep an excessive control. So, he may turn violent and become an out of control child. Whatever be the reason, if the behavior disorder is discovered, it must be given a timely treatment.
